Project Florence

Equilibrium Healthcare’s Florence Unit is a brand new care unit, co-ordinated as part of Manchester’s proactive and strategic response to the residential and nursing home challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The purpose of the Florence Unit is to mitigate the risks associated with placing COVID positive (COVID+), or recently COVID+, patients into environments not currently affected by the virus. This, in turn, reduces the chances of outbreaks in residential settings and so protects other vulnerable people.

Project Florence admits those from Manchester’s Nightingale Hospital and other hospitals who are no longer in need of critical care but are still testing positive for COVID-19. They will be cared for in this unit on a CQC “OUTSTANDING” rated site until they have fully recovered and are ready for a safe and comfortable discharge home.

The Florence Unit is staffed and managed by an experienced care team. It has been purpose-built to meet the specific needs of older people and anyone referred here to recuperate will receive the very highest standard of convalescent care within a beautiful environment which is on a CQC “OUTSTANDING” rated site.
